From evidence to a practical CBD response
A guided group discussion using the fictional CARANA setting and the Galasi Criminal Investigations Services case.
Start / Team details
Identify your group, read the case, and agree on a note-taker.
CARANA scenario reference
You are UNPOL CBD advisers supporting the Galasi Criminal Investigations Services (CIS) within the Carana National Police (CNP). The CNP faces shortages of qualified personnel, logistics, finance and training; corruption and weak public trust are serious concerns. The Galasi CIS case also identifies fragmented records, weak complaint follow-up, limited forensic capability, gaps in police-community information flow, and inconsistent policies and procedures.
Your task: discuss the evidence, identify the actors who matter, and propose a focused CBD response across individual, organisational and enabling-environment levels.
Source and adaptation note
Scenario facts are drawn from the supplied Carana Activity Workbook - Participant, especially the UNAC and police context (pp. 2, 5-6) and Activity 4, Galasi CIS (pp. 14-18). The six-stage digital workflow, shortened prompts, time allocations, review screen and export format are exercise-specific adaptations created for this session.
Situational analysis
Keep it light: agree on the main problem, the evidence, and what still needs checking.
Stakeholder matrix & mapping
Name the few actors who can own, enable, influence or challenge the response.
CBD matrix
Select up to three useful intersections, then shape one realistic response.
Review & confirm
Read the complete group response. Use Edit to return to any section before confirming.
Generate PDF
Create the final group-work report locally. No response is uploaded or sent anywhere.
Ready for local export
The report includes team details, CARANA scenario reference, all group responses, selected matrix intersections, conclusions, the training safeguard and preparer credit.
